Strategic Growth Plan - Leicester and Leicestershire

A new A46 Expressway has been proposed to run from a new junction (Jct 20A) on the M1 at Cosby through the countryside of South and East Leicestershire to join the A46 at Syston. The idea has come from Midlands Connect, has been endorsed by the County Council in its Prospectus for growth and has been used as the backbone of the Strategic Growth Plan put forward by representatives of the 8 Leicester and Leicestershire local authorities and the Leicester and Leicestershire Economic Partnership.

The route for the proposed A46 Expressway has not been decided yet but all indications are that it is very close to Burton Overy. Thirty eight thousand houses have been outlined to circle the new route and this would have an additional significant impact on the local area.
