The Company now - Burton Village Land Limited

The company is limited by shares. The (unpaid) directors are Alan Brown, Simon Gill, Mike Castleman and Paul Hadfield, who normally have a directors' meeting once a year. Mike Castleman is the current chairman and Paul Hadfield is the (unpaid) Company Secretary. Past directors have included Keith Smith, John Cornwell, Justin Parker, Stuart Weselby and Brian Pollard. There are no employees.

Since the additional 2013 share issue and purchase of Banks Field (the half-acre pasture in the centre of the village) approximately half of the families in the village are now shareholders, i.e. around 64 families as of 2021

The income of the company is around £125 per year currently, from agricultural rent. Rent is charged for both fields (a peppercorn rent in the case of Banks Field, in view of the fact that it has no water supply), which goes towards their upkeep and maintenance. All details can be seen from the recent accounts here.

We are most grateful to director and accountant Mike Castleman for producing the annual accounts. The company holds annual general meetings (AGMs) in the Pollard Room of the Village Hall, which all shareholders are invited to attend. In the run-up to the AGM it is open to any shareholder to be nominated to stand for election to become a director.
