Memorials
"In common with most other small villages in Great Britain, the First World war took a toll of the young men of Burton Overy who had willingly taken up arms in the defence of their country. From a small population a total of eight young men perished:
Harold Cox |
John Cox |
George Cox |
Walter Cox |
Alfred Cox |
Walter Herbert |
Alexander Hubbard |
Harry Newton |
Their sacrifice is recorded on a memorial plaque in St. Andrew's Church. The plaque was paid for by public subscription at a cost of £40, and following a resolution of the Parish Council on 23rd January 1920, it was purchased and mounted in the church. "
