Coronavirus update

Leicestershire County Council started grass cutting in rural areas on 20 April 2020. They are cutting verges which are outside village or urban areas.

To begin with, LCC will only be cutting the grass in rural areas where it impacts on road user's visibility. They will review this approach regularly to make sure they're working safely and maintaining social distancing.

They have delayed grass cutting in urban areas so they could make sure that they have enough equipment and staff to comply with social distancing. The urban grass cutting programme will start on 4 May.

Because of this necessary delay, and the rate of growth, it will take them longer than normal to complete the first cut. The quality of the first cut might also be different.

At the moment, LCC can't specify cutting dates for individual areas and they can't respond to individual queries. Residents are thanked you for their patience and understanding whilst LCC staff work hard to cut the grass across the county.

The situation will be reviewed regularly and updated if necessary.
